Communications Workers of America National Minority Caucus

Sunday Non Denominational Service

Sunday July 28, 2019

9:00 am

The CWA National Minority Caucus is honored to have Minster Terrence (Terry) L. Melvin from Second Baptist Church (Lackawanna, New York) presiding over our Sunday Non Denominational Service on Sunday, July 28th.

Terry L. Melvin decided to join the union movement in 1980 as a member of CSEA Local 427 in Western, New York. He quickly rose through the ranks of CSEA becoming one of the youngest Local Presidents in December 1983. Through his leadership skills he was appointed to assist CSEA President Danny Donohue in 1996. In 2007 he was elected as Secretary-Treasurer for New York State AFL-CIO. Terry join CBTU – Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, and under the guidance of CBTU’s founding member and former President William (Bill) Lucy he decided to run and was elected President.

During CBTU President Melvin’s Unite the Right Rally speech he told activists, “The only thing Confederates and Nazis share in common is that they were both defeated, and like history has taught, they will again be defeated by a coalition of Americans presenting our great Nation.”

His words ring so true, so activists of this Labor Movement we must get to work!
